Which Premier League Teams Have Betting Companies as Their Primary Shirt Sponsor?

Which Premier League Teams Have Betting Companies as Their Primary Shirt Sponsor?
In the modern world of sports, sponsorship deals are a significant source of revenue for football clubs. The Premier League, renowned for its global viewership and commercial appeal, often attracts high-profile sponsors, including betting companies. However, last April, the league's organizers decided to halt such outfits adoring the strips of the division's 20 teams.

The gambling sector has seamlessly integrated itself into the beautiful game over the last two decades, making it possible for fans to wager on more than just matches. Sports-themed casino games like the eerie Zombie FC, where undead players and referees take to the pitch amidst epic plays and bad-mouthing managers, have become immensely popular. Offering 243 ways to win, tumbling reels, expanding wilds, and thrilling free spins with progressive multipliers, Zombie FC provides supporters with spine-chilling entertainment beyond match day.

Virtual football, along with a diverse selection of other popular online slots at Ignition, such as the cricket-themed Cricket Legends and the basketball-inspired Streetball Star, are available round-the-clock, perfect for any fan looking to get closer to the pitch and indulge their passion for sports – all while enjoying the simple slot gameplay.

Given that, in the English top flight, there are currently seven teams featuring gambling site logos on their strips and as such, they may well have to look for new partners in the not-so-distant future. But who are they? And how have they performed this season? Let's find out.

AFC Bournemouth

Has any team had defied expectations more than Bournemouth? Heading into the 2023/24 campaign, the Cherries were one of the favorites for the drop. However, new manager - former Athletic Bilbao captain - Andoni Iraola has transformed the South Coast club into a top-half Premier League club.

Much of that success can be attributed to the team-up with Dafabet. The Filipino company is one of the strongest players in the Asian betting market and the partnership has signified their attempts to grab a piece of the European pie. Of course, for Bournemouth, their aims are the opposite, gaining a swathe of new supporters over in Asia, as well as securing additional funding. Their bolstered transfer coffers allowed them to seal moves for the likes of Tyler Adams and Justin Kluivert last summer, and further strengthening can be expected once the current season is over.

Aston Villa

The transformation of Aston Villa under manager Unai Emery has been meteoric. The West Midlands club has just secured a top-four finish and UEFA Champions League qualification for the first time since the tournament rebranding in the early 1990s. They have secured victories home and away against Arsenal this term - curtailing the Gunners title hopes in the process - as well as defeating reigning champions Manchester City and reaching the Europa Conference League semifinals.

One company that will certainly be happy with its progress is another Asian firm, BK8. The company's logo has adorned the famous claret and blue shirts all season long, and next term, they will be front and center in Europe's primary club competition as well. That takes their exposure to a whole new level, while also allowing the Villans to bring in more top talent for them to return to their glory days.

Brentford

One club that has had plenty of gambling-related issues this season is Brentford. They were without star striker and captain Ivan Toney for the first half of the season as he breached a number of the FA's betting rules, resulting in a suspension. But that hasn't stopped his club from partnering up with South African giant HollywoodBets. The link-up has been beneficial for both parties, with the sponsor becoming a household name within international markets and the Bees building a stronger squad and infrastructure, crucial for their aspirations to cement their place in the Premier League.

Burnley

While Aston Villa and Bournemouth have both shone this term, Burnley most certainly has not. The Clarets headed into the Premier League after winning promotion from the Championship last term in dominant fashion. However, they have suffered an immediate relegation, even though two of their relegation rivals both suffered points deductions. They are sponsored by W88, yet another Asian firm however, their sphere of influence is likely to decline with fewer eyes watching the second tier compared to the top flight.

Everton

One of those two clubs that suffered a points deduction was Everton. They were docked ten points earlier in the season for breaching financial sustainability rules, even though they have a megamoney partnership with Stake.com. The cryptocurrency-based bookmaker is one of the most forward-thinking in the entire industry, and they may well provide more than just funding to The Toffees, perhaps even assisting in how to generate more income to avoid such points deductions in the future.

Fulham

In recent years, Fulham has bounced between the Championship and the Premier League. However, since their link up with SBOTop, they have managed to firmly establish themselves in the top flight. This season, they have finished 14th in the division, with no fears of relegation. With plenty of backing from the Asian company as well as owner Shahid Khan - who also owns the NFL franchise the Jacksonville Jaguars - the Cottagers could progress even further over the next 12 months.

West Ham United

Finally, we have West Ham United, who are sponsored by perhaps the most well-known bookmaker on this last, Betway. The Hammers reached the Europa League quarterfinals this season, where they were ultimately knocked out by German champions Bayer Leverkusen. That prompted the Hammers ownership team to look in a different direction and they have opted to part ways with manager David Moyes at the end of the season. Should the new man in charge be backed both by the owners and by Betway, the Hammers may well compete for both in the Premier League and on the continental stage once again next term.
